Vick released a statement through his agent Joel Segal upon hearing of the commissioner’s decision:

I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to commissioner Goodell for allowing me to be readmitted to the National Football League. I fully understand that playing football in the NFL is a privilege, not a right, and I am truly thankful for the opportunity I have been given.

As you can imagine, the last two years have given me time to re-evaluate my life, mature as an individual and fully understand the terrible mistakes I have made in the past and what type of life I must lead moving forward.

Again, I want to thank the commissioner for the chance to return to the game I love and the opportunity to become an example of positive change.

Among the teams that have indicated they have no interest in Vick are the New York Giants and the New York Jets. Vick has a long way to go to regain his status in the NFL. He was once the highest paid player in the league with a 10-year $130 million contract with Atlanta. Now he’s filed for bankruptcy with debts of $20 million. Meanwhile he has plans to work with animal rights groups to educate inner city youth on the issues surrounding dog fighting. It will be a long road uphill, but perhaps Vick can convince America that he has what it takes to be a bad boy gone straight.

Farrah Fawcett’s family summoned a priest to conduct last rights on the night of Wednesday, June 24, 2009, according to the New York Daily News.  Apparently Fawcett’s bout with cancer has taken a turn for the worst while her closest family and friends were at her bedside.  Her fight with cancer goes back to 2006 and has been shown in the NBC documentary, “Farrah’s Story.”  Barbara Walters is scheduled to air another story on Fawcett on “20/20″ tomorrow night.

Fawcett is best known for her role in the hit television show, “Charlie’s Angels.”  The action series ran for five seasons starting in 1976 and brought Fawcett and the other angels (played by Jaclyn Smith, Cheryl Ladd and Kate Jackson) to the center of the television beauty stage.  Never before had such beauty been combined with action and drama outside of the silver screen.  Of course my favorite action with Fawcett is the 1976 sci-fi movie “Logan’s Run.”  Who can forget her role there as the beautiful blond (read:bimbo) assistant to the laser make-over surgeon?  The 62 year old Fawcett’s long-time lover Ryan O’Neal has asked her to marry him again, and according to O’Neal, she has accepted.  The couple has one child together, Redmond O’Neal.  Only time will tell if this will truly be the final farewell to Farrah Fawcett.  Either way she has lived a full life, inspired many and has been an icon for beautiful women the world over.

Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010.

Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. We’re designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web.

So there you have it from the horse’s mouth … or something like that.  So will Google’s OS be a Microsoft killer? That will remain to be seen.  When it’s all said and done it still sounds like it will be sitting on a modified Linux kernel which begs the question: is it really a ‘new’ operating system?  Another thing to consider is the fact that it took Linux years to get the meager market share it has now.  How can Google better that timeframe?  It hasn’t exactly taken over the world with its browser just yet (although it has become my personal favorite).  I’m looking forward to checking out the upcoming Chrome OS, but don’t place any bets on it conquering Redmond just yet.  Check out the video below for a little background on the Chrome browser and possibly a litte of the thought process behind the new OS …

Bill Cosby hasn’t done any acting since doing a voice piece on Sylvia’s Path (2002).  He has written several books, with his most controversial in 2007 called ”Come On People: On the Path from Victims to Victors.”  He is scheduled to host a comedy gala at the Montreal Just for Laughs festival this summer.

Rashad has continued her acting career on broadway as well as in both television and films, guest starring in shows such as Touched by an Angel, Psych and The Life & Times of Tim.  Two movies starring Rashad are forthcoming: Frankie and Alice, which is in post-production and The Middle of Nowhere, which is in pre-production.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner has continued on to have a prolific career in acting, from having a lead role for four seasons of Malcolm & Eddie to guest starring in The Cleaner and Hawthorne. On a personal note, Warner ended up marrying Karen Malina White who played the character Charmaine Brown in 14 episodes of The Cosby Show.

Keshia Knight Pulliam continued with her acting primarily in film, starring in Beatuy Shop (2005) and Death Toll (2008).  Only in the last few years has Pulliam returned to television, guest starring in House of Payne.  Her latest work, in Madea Goes to Jail was released in February of this year.

Tempestt Bledsoe has starred in many television shows and made-for-tv movies such as The Practice, South of Nowhere, Husband for Hire and The Replacements.  Her two most current projects are the made-for-tv movie Wishing Well, currently in post-production and N-Secure, made for the big screen, also in post-production.  She is also starring with her husband, Darryl M. Bell, in the reality TV series Househusbands of Hollywood, set to air this fall on the Fox Reality Channel.

Last but not least, Lisa Bonet went on to star in several movies, both for the silver screen and for television.  Her latest role has taken the form of several appearances on the show Life on Mars.  Lisa was married to the singer Lenny Kravitz in the 1980s, but the two split up in 1993.  Her controversial role in the x-rated movie Angel Heart in 1987 was suspected to be one reason she left the show.  After her divorce from Kravitz she got remarried to her yoga instructor and legally changed her name to Lilakoi Moon.

Travalena was well known for his impersonations of other celebrities as you can see from the clip from “The Late Show with David Letterman” at the link below. Fred is survived by his wife Lois, two sons, one daughter and a granddaughter. RIP Fred, may you continue to make good impressions wherever you go.

From reading his blog post Chopra sounds just as bewildered about the sudden demise of Jackson as the rest of the world.  He echoes the thought also posted online earlier today by Lisa Marie Preley that somehow Jackson felt like he would indeed go out “like Elvis.”

It sends a shiver to recall something he told Gotham: “I don’t want to go out like Marlon Brando. I want to go out like Elvis.” Both icons were obsessions of this icon.

Whatever the cause of death turns out to be for Jackson, the comparison to the legendary king of rock and roll, Elvis Presley, is stunning.  Both Presley and Jackson became legends in their own right, taking their music and fans to musical places they had never experienced before.  You can check out Chopra’s complete thoughts on Michael Jackson’s death on his blog over on Beliefnet.
