Do you like improv? Do you like comedy? Do you know who Rob Riggle from the "Daily Show," is? Have you heard of "Facebook?" If you've answered "yes" to any of these questions, check out our Manolith on-the-scene interview with the cast of UCB's "Facebook Show."

I had no idea what improvisational comedy was until I took an Improv 101 class at the Uprights Citizens Brigade in Hollywood. The Uprights Citizens Brigade or UCB is a sketch/improv comedy group that began at Chicago’s ImprovOlympic in 1990. Famous alumni include Matt Besser, Amy Poehler, Ian Roberts, Matt Walsh, Ali Farahnakian, Drew Franklin, Adam McKay, the late Rick Roman and Horatio Sanz. (Note: You can Google or IMDB any of these names and you’ll see their huge body of work.)

And if you’ve seen ANY popular comedy movies, TV shows or webisodes, chances are that the actors and writers are improv performers who’ve honed their craft onstage by creating funny and semi-ridiculous scenes usually with just a word suggestion from the audience.

After taking an improv class and seeing how difficult it can be to make a bunch of people laugh, I give these improv performers even more props because COMEDY IS HARD. Seriously. So, we here at Manolith decided to check out UCB’s popular “Facebook show” that stars the following witty comedians/actors/writers to see if I can learn to be funny. Uh. This is harder than I thought.

Paul Scheer – Creator/Producer/Actor of MTV’s “Human Giant,” and roles in Film/TV from “Year One”, “Bride Wars”, “30 Rock”, “The League”, and “Ass Backwards”. Oh and do you watch VH1’s “Best Week Ever”? Yeah, that’s him too.

Owen Burke – Started off at UCB New York and has performed at the HBO Comedy Arts Festival, the San Francisco Sketchfest and the Chicago Improv Festival. He’s also had roles on “30 Rock”, “Human Giant”, “Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story” and “May the Best Man Win.”

Chad Carter - has written for Creature Comforts on CBS, MTV’s Human Giant, Comedy Central’s “CrossBalls”, ABC’s “My Kind of Town”, and the Adam McKay produced stage sketch show “George Bush is a Mother F*cker}.

Seth Morris – is a stand-up, sketch and improv comedian from San Francisco and the former Artistic Director of UCBTLA who has starred on shows from “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, “Reno 911″, “I Love You, Man” and “How I Met Your Mother.” And more. (Geez, my hands hurt from typing.)

Rob Huebel – Remember “The Inconsiderate Cell Phone Guy?” from the movie previews? Well, he’s also starred on shows from “The Office”, “Gary Unmarried”, “Reno 911″, “Human Giant” and more. (He also hijacked the camera during the interview…)

Rob Riggle – A former Marine Corps officer, Rob Riggle is best known for his Correspondent work on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” as well as Film/TV work from “Stepbrothers”, The Goods”, “Going the Distance”, “The Other Guys” and “Gary Unmarried”.

What exactly is the “Facebok show”? Well, during each weekly show, two people are randomly chosen in the audience to have their Facebook pages displayed and turned into a long-form improv comedy show. So whether you’re updating your Gacebook status 24/7 or you still have a Myspace account, you’ll definitely enjoy this show that makes fun of our current social media obsession.

Thanks again to Aysha Manori as well as to Paul, Owen, Chad, Seth, Rob and Rob.

Juan Carlos Mazorra is someone I’ve known when I first started out in Entertainment, in New York City, where hustling (meaning working hard, not that other definition) is just a way of life.

He’s an accomplished music video director whose worked with the infamous Irv Gotti of the INC. record label and has credits including, “New York,” by Ja Rule featuring Fat Joe and Jadakiss, to videos by Ashanti. Recently, he directed “Children of the Killing Fields,” a full-length documentary about child trafficking and prostitution in Cambodia and the United States. We caught up with Juan Carlos at a recording studio in North Hollywood where he was working on tracks from an up and coming group called “Rej3ctz,” whose sound is fresh, new and if you’ve heard, New Boyz “You’re a Jerk,” on a hip-hop playlist recently, you’ll love them. Oh, and here’s a recent LA Times article about them..Congrats, they just got signed to Warner Bros.
First of all, just wanted to give a shout-out to Peter Crawfurd and Michael Yang, the founders of ShirtsMyWay.com for offering up the two free customized shirts. They’re a great company that was recently mentioned in the Financial Times and are using out-of-box ways of marketing such as reaching out to the Obama Administration. Sweet.

Okay, now that I’ve finished plugging, I’ll get to the point. We asked you men to tell us the worst men’s fashion trend that you’ve seen and we laughed, smirked and agreed with many of your answers.

But, alas, we only have two shirts so…the winners for the ShirtsMyWay.com giveaway are…

1) Tim Jones.

“I have seen this trend numerous times and question the wearer’s intent: guys who sport a decent blazer, button-up shirt paired with ill-fitting jeans and sneakers (dirty most of the time, but sneakers none the less). Usually the men wearing this ensemble think they are “dressed up” for an event such as a performance, a nice dinner, or going to a party. Sorry, it’s not that versatile.”

2) Dan

“The worst trend by far was the brief window in time when it was acceptable for men to wear capri pants. I can’t remember the exact date, as I seem to have repressed most of the memories, so it could have been anytime from 1995 to 2006. As I live NJ, this trend is particularly painful for me, as it has recently been revived by our “tannest” residents, who have combined white capri pants with blowout hair cuts, black wife beaters, and shaved caves to create the perfect storm of d-bagness.

I would rather not have legs then be forced to wear capri pants.

We’ll contact you guys with all the details on how you can claim your customized dress shirt.

Thanks for all the comments guys, and stay tuned for upcoming giveaways.

Sincerely,

The Manolith Posse

Free stuff is cool. Free stuff that you actually use/need is bomb. So, we thought, “Why not pass along all this free stuff to our readers?” So for our first Manolith giveaway, we’re giving away TWO custom dress shirts from Shirtsmyway.com, which is a site where you can design, customize and create your own fitted shirt using quality fabrics and numerous possible shirt designs.

Pretty genius idea as these dress shirts are literally made to fit your body whether you have long arms, short torso, have a little extra around the middle or are super thin. And you get free International standard shipping which doesn’t hurt.

All you guys have to do is leave an answer to the following question in the comments section below.

Okay, so here’s the question…

What is the worst mens style trend you’ve ever seen? Have you been that guy who sported those awful Hypercolor t-shirts from the 1990’s or do you cringe when you see someone wearing see-through Pink dress shirts? The abnormal growth had become so large it was obstructing her airways and had to be removed in order for her to survive. The girl suffers from rare form of Polyostotic Fibrous Dysplasia; a nonhereditary, genetic disease that causes bone to become “like a big a bowl of jelly with some bone inside,” said Dr. Jesus Gomez of University of Miami School of Medicine.

Boston Celtics Captain, Paul Pierce, hasn’t had his career handed to him on a silver platter. He’s been through the gutter, whether it was the fact that he was cut from the Varsity basketball team during his Freshman and Sophomore years at Inglewood High School, was stabbed at a nightclub in 2000, and had to work his way into the hearts of Boston fans, a notoriously tough thing to do.

Well, how did he stay motivated? Its actually something that we’ve all heard millions of times, but we need reminders now and again. Pierce shares with Mens Health some of his thoughts on how to stay motivated on the Court and in life.

Cut the Fat- After the Boston Celtics clinched the NBA title last year, Pierce didn’t just go home and get fat. Instead, he decided that he needed to be lighter on the court and switched his diet to healthier fare with lean proteins and plenty of vegetables. He dropped 9 pounds and said he felt more prepared than ever on the Court.

Be the First- Pierce usually starts his own work out a couple of hours before Scheduled team practices to get his running and cardio in, and probably also just to increase his stamina on the court. As every athlete knows, the more you push yourself, the more benefits you will reap. Sometimes you just need to push yourself, no matter how hard or annoying it can be.

Find Strength in Weakness- Pierce says that during his toughest times, he would listen to the words of Celtics Coach Red Auerbach. Pierce says, “Red always said to me, ?Your name is Paul Pierce, and just remember who you are. Understanding who you are is saying…You’re great, you have tons of confidence, and don’t ever forget that.’ And that helped me, man. Because when things weren’t going right, I thought, You’ve got to remember who you are. Don’t stray from that. Don’t let these things get you down.”

As an athlete myself, I think that motivation comes from within yourself. If you don’t push yourself, you’ll never know how high you can climb.

As of posting time, Paul Pierce and the rest of the Boston Celtics are facing off against the Orlando Magic in the NBA Playoffs for the 2009 Title.

Social networking seems to be on everyone’s lips these days. Yeah, and Twitter. Everyone and their Mom is on it. Literally. And you guys probably know by now that Ashton Kutcher beat CNN in his quest to gain 1 million followers, so any big Corporation who doesn’t have a big social networking presence is screwed. Right?

Well, MTV is trying to bring back a version of that slightly annoying show called “TRL,” which was hosted by Carson Daly and featured throngs of young, teenage girls who were screaming for the latest pop stars of the day. I remember my guy friends would refer to that show as the, “death of civilization as we know it.” I never thought of it as quite so dramatic, but yeah, I won’t lie…I tuned into that show fairly often though never admitting it in front of them.

Anyway, British model/host/Fashionista, Alexa Chung, will be hosting a new MTV variety show called, “The Alexa Chung Show,” which will feature “ live celebrity interviews and musical performances with a social-media component powered by both Facebook and Twitter.” She’s a popular TV presence back in the UK where she’s hosted Popworld, Freshly Squeezed with Rick Edwards, and Vanity Lair.

My only question is… I know the guys will be watching because this girl’s a model, but will she get all the American youngsters’ tuning into the show via facebook, twitter, and of course, this old thing called a TV?

Oh, and I have one admission to make. I actually was in the audience for TRL one year and hope that the footage of me pretending to clap my hands and be excited is in some control room, never to be released.

Well, you know all of those big movie stars and big producers that create all those huge movies that we see in multiplexes, TV as well as online? They’re all represented by several big talent agencies in Hollywood including Creative Artists Agency, William Morris Agency, and Endeavor Talent Agency.

It was announced yesterday that the William Morris Agency and Endeavor Talent Agency will merge to form a huge entity called “William Morris Endeavor Entertainment,” or WME for short. James A. Wiatt, Chief executive of William Morris will be Chairman of WME, and Ari Emanuael will be Co-Chief executive along with Patrick Whitesell of Endeavor and David Wirtschafter of William Morris.

Ari Emanuel, one of the original founders of Endeavor Talent Agency, whose aggressive persona inspired the character of Ari Gold on HBO’s “Entourage,” is also the brother of Rahm Emanuel, President Obama’s Chief of Staff.

This new restructuring will result in layoffs of hundreds of agents and supporting staff which is never a pleasant experience. But this merger will solidify the place of WME in the new digital landscape of Entertainment.

My only question is…Will there by a future “Entourage,” episode about this merger? If so, I’m sure that the audience would love to see all the gory details.

Los Angeles Lakers Guard Derek Fisher should be in a better mood today considering yesterday’s LA Lakers Game 5 win against the Utah Jazz in the NBA Western Conference playoffs at the Staples Center.

Instead, he is breathing a sigh of relief after he got a temporary restraining order against Symone Fisher, a 40 yr. old woman who has been allegedly stalking him since the 2001-2002 basketball season. She is being accused of showing up at Fisher’s home, the Lakers training facility, as well as sending him numerous e-mails and letters claiming to be his wife.

Fisher wrote in court papers that “Her repeated attempts to contact me, her delusional notions that we are married, her angry and hostile tirades against me, her appearance at my place of work and her recent travels near and around my place of residence are all extremely frightening.”

Originally from Arkansas, Derek Fisher re-joined the Los Angeles Lakers in 2007 with a 3 year, $14 million contract. He, along with the rest of the Lakers will be facing off against either the Portland Trailblazers or the Houston Rockets in the 2009 NBA Conference Semi-finals.

Now, he can focus on the game and not his stalker.

Tough times are nothing new to write about these days, but especially those in the field of Journalism as print and new media publications are trying to compete in a world where Blogs can surpass the traffic of established news sites.

Conde Nast announced plans today to shut down its Portfolio magazine, a monthly business magazine that was launched in April 2007 that featured articles by high-profile journalists and focused on the life of the business executive. It was led by editor-in-chief, Joanne Lipman, formerly of the prestigious Wall Street Journal.

Marketwatch reports that Lipman was told that Advance Publications, Conde Nast’s parent company, had made the decision to shut down the news publication. After cuts had already been made to cut budgets across the board at not only Portfolio, but other magazines underneath the Conde Nast banner, it was decided that the business publication would have to fold.

Porfolio focused on the business of media and targeted the higher-income executives as well as others who were known as movers and shakers in the world of media. Unfortunately, with the changing landscape of the Online newspaper and magazine presence, Portfolio was unable to continue as sales for their digital ads were not enough to keep the publication in business.

Beatboxing is the term referring to a “form of vocal percussion in which the artist emulates the sounds of a ‘beat box’ or drum machine.” An important part of hip-hop culture, you can hear it in on the streetcorners of Chi-town, New York or LA, at barbershops, or at local emcee battles. Even Justin Timberlake can beat-box, though most street rappers wouldn’t give him the time of day.

Well, my boyfriend sent me this video of a kid beatboxing and he’s pretty sick. I just listened to his beatboxing and didn’t even look at the video and thought that I was listening to electronic music. Can you believe this?

This kid probably did a lot of research from the greats of Rahzel (former member of The Roots), Biz Markie, Doug E. Fresh, Killa Kela and Matisyahu. Check out Rahzel’s “Four Elements,” to get a refresher course, if you decide that you want to learn to beat-box.

I’d like to see this kid go up against a seasoned beatboxer on a street corner somewhere and see what would happen. Growing up, my Dad owned a store in West Philly and I used to see guys engage in rap/lyrical flow battles. Once in a while, this quiet, unassuming kid would just roll up and start beatboxing.

Holla.

Jimmy Smith was a star Wide Receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars for ten seasons before he announced his retirement from the NFL in 2006. But on April 22, Smith was stopped for “excessive window tint,” and the Florida Highway Patrol found crack cocaine, marijuana and traces of cocaine in his vehicle.

Smith now faces multiple drug charges, plus a charge of driving with a suspended license. This is not his first run-in with the law, as he was placed in NFL’s substance-abuse program in 2001 after police found traces of bezoylecgonine, a cocaine by-product, in his system after being pulled over for drunk driving.

Originally from Mississippi, Smith was drafted into the NFL out of Jackson State University before playing for the Dallas Cowboys. After he spent most of his time on the injured list due to an infection after having an emergency apenndectomy, Smith was cut from the Cowboys. He then went to play for the Philadelphia Eagles and was cut again. Soonafter, he joined the Jacksonville Jaguars and became an dominant force in their offensive plays. Smith had been voted to the Pro Bowl five times and is the Jaguars all-time leading receiver.

Smith is being held without bond at the Duval County Jail.

It’s not completely unheard of for a high school basketball player to go Pro to play for the NBA. Look at LeBron James, who is doing just fine, as he continues to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers in his teamwork skills and yes, he passes the ball. There’s also Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant, the star of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Well, what about a high schooler who leaves high school during his senior year to go play for Professional team in…Europe? James Tyler, 17, left San Diego high school and has decided to play for a team overseas following in the footsteps of fellow US player Brandon Jennings who currently plays for an Italian Pro team and plans to return for the draft. When Tyler does return, he is projected by sports analysts to be a top pick for the 2011 NBA draft.

Tyler had committed to playing for Louisville, but changed his mind saying, “Nowadays people look to college for more off-the-court stuff versus being in the gym and getting better. If you’re really focused on getting better, you go play pro somewhere. Pro guys will get you way better than playing against college guys.”

Whether these young players play in College or go Pro in other countries, what matters is what works for each individual player. Though some may argue that this sets a bad precedent for young children who look up to these players, its not really their decision.

A few years ago, I was just another gal living in New York City, and never quite understood why there was always a long line of hoodie-wearing guys next to the Supreme store on Lafayette Street. They wait for days on end for the release of a new limited edition sneaker. Well, these people (mostly dudes) are called Sneakerheads. Yes, they collect limited edition sneakers for the purposes of fashion and knowing that only a select group of people have that sneaker.

Supreme opened in New York City in 1993 and now has stores in Japan and LA. It sells fashionable skater clothes and the thing is that they don’t have a huge marketing budget to spread the word about their brand. No huge marketing meetings or people in suits. Just a bunch of people who want to own a piece of the Supreme brand. Oh, and all of their designs are done by their own in-house design team from fleeces to hats to t-shirts.

Yesterday, I was driving down Fairfax Ave here in LA around 6 AM and saw a huge line of hoodie-wearing guys waiting in front of the Supreme Store. Yup, its the release of another big shoe. In this case, its the Classic Nike Bruin Shoe in four colors.

These are some die hard Sneakerheads.

I’m usually extolling the virtues of eating healthy food on the cheap, but you have to let loose once in a while and eat things that taste good or you’ll freak out. And adding to that is the ever-growing responsibility to watch your budget, especially on things like eating out and fast food.

But, you can start that process again tomorrow because today, this New Orleans Cajun fast food chain known as Popeye’s Chicken and Biscuits is selling their 8 piece Bonafide Fried Chicken for the low price of $4.99. They’re second in popularity to KFC with their spicy flavored fried chicken and buttery biscuits.

They’re calling it the “Payday Special,” so that you can save money on your fast food purchases from their stores and then save towards that gym membership that you’ve been meaning to join.

But until you do, you can gorge yourself on this fried chicken meal, or you can share with your cubicle mates so you won’t feel too guilty. This stuff is obviously good enough to steal for, as recently, a Jacksonville couple was robbed by four men who yelled out of their car, “Give us the chicken!” (You can’t make this stuff up, folks)

If you do decide to go to Popeye’s and get this Payday Special, be sure to hide the contents of your bag in a safe place. You wouldn’t want to get jacked for your fried chicken, would you?

Are you one of those guys that rolls their eyes or changes your browser when you see or hear the mention of Oprah, that ridiculously rich media mogul who speaks about her Spirit and Self? (Stop gagging, boys)

Well, you’ve probably heard that Oprah has joined Twitter, that microblogging sensation, unless you’ve been living under a rock. Besides getting followers at a furious pace, she was welcomed to Twitter by no other than Ashton Kutcher, the first Twitter user to hit 1 million followers. (Another person that you guys either love or hate)

I’ve found that most guys I’ve talked to about Twitter either think its the stupidest thing ever or that its genius.

Conversation with Guy Who Thinks Twitter is the Stupidest Thing Ever

ME: Are you on Twitter?
Guy #1: What the hell is the point of that stupid site? Why the hell would I want to know what you’re eating right now or if you think that you have a crush on Ryan Seacrest? Isn’t he gay by the way?
ME: Um. No, the point is to be connected to be a bunch of people at all times. And no, Ryan Seacrest is not gay. He’s just metrosexual so he’s always clean-shaven and gets his nails done.

Conversation with Guy Who Thinks Twitter is Genius
ME: I haven’t updated my Twitter in forever.
Guy #2: What’s forever? A few hours? Minutes?
ME: No, I haven’t been on there in a week.
Guy #2: WHAT?!! It’s the best site ever! You can get constant feed on breaking news, get updates on your friends and you can follow all these celebs. I’m into Ashton’s lady. Cougars, baby!
ME: Uh… okay. Calm it down, buddy.

Point being, now that the most inspirational woman in Media has joined twitter, does that make you want to share your soul, feelings and emotions on the popular site or do you hope that she takes her “Feelings,” and stops tweeting?

There’s just something about a big, juicy hamburger that tastes like ecstasy in your mouth. The kind of pleasure that a slab of red meat can create is one that only true burger lovers can understand. And there are those burger purists out there who compare and contrast the burgers from local Mom and Pop sports to local favorites like In-N-Out, or of course the standbys, Mcdonalds and Burger King.

Well, it looks like this year, the Wall Street Journal awarded the prize for the “best burger in America,” to Ann’s Snack Bar in Atlanta, Georgia for their famous “Ghetto Burger.” Yup. You heard it right. This “Ghetto Burger,” consists of ground beef, bacon, tomato, lettuce, cheese, seasoning, mustard, mayonnaise, onions and chili on oven-toasted buns.

Ann Price, owner of Ann’s Snack Bar and creator of the “Ghetto Burger,” is strict about rules at her restaurant, one of which is that customers can only enter if one or more of the eight available stools are open.

One thing is for sure, in these tough Economic times, we’re all craving for a few of life’s pleasures that will satisfy but not kill our budgets. So, if you find yourself in Atlanta, maybe you’d want to stop by and grab a “Ghetto Burger,” to see what all the fuss is about.

But don’t try to walk in if the stools aren’t available. Ann might throw you out.

Shaquille O’Neal is 7 feet tall and weighs 325 lbs. He used to be a Los Angeles Laker. Then Miami Heat. And now, he plays Center for the Phoenix Suns. He’s also the one of the dominant players in the NBA which you probably know by now. If you didn’t, well he’ll let you know it.

The media tends to like him because of his playful personality and well, the man is funny. His jokester status is well-known among the players on the Phoenix Suns, especially Suns forward Lou Amundson who had been a victim of Shaq’s pranks all season.

Amundson, who rides his bike to practice, kept finding that his bike was missing after every practice as Shaq had members of the Suns’ staff continuously hide his bike. So Amundson decided to get even as he managed to stuff Shaq’s van full of pink packing peanuts. As any prankster knows, you have to give props to anyone who actually does a good job at punking you.

Considering that Shaq is also a reserve Police Officer in Miami, a rapper with a song entitled, “I Know I Got Skillz,” and is known for his dry, witty comments, I’m sure he laughed it off. But you know Amundson better be prepared because Shaq is going to bring his “A” game next season. Watch out!

Eminem. Marshall Mathers. Slim Shady. This tongue-twisting rapper has been out of the spotlight for a minute now ever since he burst onto the music scene with his hits ranging from “My Name is”, ” Lose Yourself,” “Without Me,” and ” Stan.”

His new album entitled, “Relapse,” is due for wide release this year and his protege, 50 Cent, also confirmed that the blonde-haired rapper will also be releasing a second album this year. 50 cent tells MTV, “You can’t ask for more excitement from a hip-hop perspective than two Eminem albums. One is great. It’s a treat. But the second one is exciting.

Eminem will also be inducting the rap group, Run DMC into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame on April 4, 2009 held at the Public Auditorium in Cleveland. Run DMC broke ground in bringing rap music to the public consciousness with hits from “It’s Tricky,” “It’s Like That,” and “Walk this Way,” with Aerosmith.

You may have heard his song, “Crack a Bottle,” with 50 Cent and Dr. Dre on the radio, youtube, or myspace. It’s making its way to the top of the charts, and just goes to show you the power of a track by Marshall Mathers. Now, I know he can make a hit song, but can Eminem bring back the tracks such as “If I Had,” and “Sing for the Moment,” that got his fans and music critics fired up?

Guess we have to wait for the release of “Relapse.”

If you’re an MLB baseball fan, you’ve probably heard Hall of Famed Announcer Harry Kalas yell, “Outta Here,” when he broadcasted for Philadelphia Phillies games. He’s as well-known and ubiquitous in the City of Brother Love, as that big green mascot known as the Philly Fanatic. Well, its a sad day for Phillies fans that had much to celebrate as last year, they won the World Series which has been out of their grasp since the early 1980’s. Today, ESPN reported that at the age of 73, Harry Kalas passed away in a broadcast booth before a game with the Washington Nationals.

Originally from Naperville, Ill., Kalas native graduated from the University of Iowa in 1959 with a degree in speech, radio and television. He spent time in the Army, as a sports director for Hawaii radio station KGU, and did voice-over work from commercials to film work. Eventually, he became a broadcaster for Phillies games and you might know that Philly fans are a tough crowd. They boo, they don’t like outsiders, they will let you know how much they don’t like your team, but he eventually won the hearts of the tough Philly fans and has been in the announcers’ booth since 1971.

He also was the voice-over narrator for NFL Films as well as being a regular feature on “Inside the NFL.”

Being a native of Philadelphia, I’ll be the first to say that I remember watching Phillies games with my Dad and hearing Kalas say his infamous words, “Outta Here.” He managed to win over the tough-as-nails Philly crowd with his announcer skills and that’s not an easy feat.

Rest in peace, Kalas.

At first glance, CBS’s “The Big Bang Theory,” doesn’t seem like it would be addictive. Nope. I mean, a show about a bunch of nerds who have problems socializing amongst the rest of the world? Actually, its brilliant.

The Wall Street Journal wrote an article about the show which is a traditional sitcom, not the single camera comedies that have been popular on network TV as of late. (Think “The Office”) This means a studio audience, timed jokes, and a laugh track. But the thing is…this show works. How? Well, the cast is pretty hilarious, the writing is spot-on, and the concept of the show about these genius physicists who can solve just about anything related to quantum physics but when it comes to practical life issues, they’re clueless.

As a geek myself, I grew up being awkward and not fitting in, so maybe that’s why I have a soft spot for these characters especially Sheldon. He’s the ubersmart physicist with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and a hilarious disposition that causes him to over-analyze things like how to calculate a tip when eating at a restaurant.

Here is one particular exchange he had with Penny, their pretty neighbor, on a recent episode.

Penny: How many Superman movies are there?

Sheldon: You’re kidding, right?

Penny: I remember when Lois Lane was falling out of a helicopter and Superman swooshes down and catches her…

Sheldon: You realize that scene was rife with scientific inaccuracies.

Penny turns and walks back into her apartment.

Priceless scene, and it helps you understand why this show is so funny and just grows on you. It’s about outsiders who are trying to fit in, and who can’t relate to that?

Detroit Rapper Eminem aka Marshall Mathers or Slim Shady broke onto the hip-hop scene with witty rhymes that didn’t fail to make fun of Pop stars or Politicians. His lyrical wit and emotional lyrics about his difficult life led to his rise as one of the few non-minority hip hop stars in the rap game. Some of his past hits include, “The Real Slim Shady, Without Me, Lose Yourself, Forgot About Dre, and Business.”

Well, he’s back again to show the world that he’s not dead. Nope. He’s just been in Detroit, producing for other artists and working on his forthcoming 6th Studio album, “Relapse.” Today, he released the music video for “We Made You,” which goes back to his love of spoofing the Tabloid stars of the day including Bret Michaels of “Rock of Love,” Kim Kardashian, Jessica Simpson, Amy Winehouse and Republican VP Nominee, Sarah Palin.

Reaction has been mixed as his die-hard fans love anything that he releases while others long for the more introspective Eminem from “The Marshall Mathers LP.“ Yeah, this track is no “Stan,” with a sad melody and Dido singing in the background, but its one of those songs that you like to blast on the freeway by yourself because you secretly like it. I mean, in front of everyone else, you’ll be a hip-hop purist and talk about the Roots, Talib Kweli, and all those rap groups from the 90’s. But you know, you’ll still blast this song with the system down and volume way up.

No, this is not a headline from The Daily Show. Its just a testament to the fact that truth is definitely stranger than fiction. In this case, its much cooler. Actor Kal Penn, is best known as the stoner Kumar who was always trying to get laid while searching for White castle burgers in “Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle,” and the following, “Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay,” just got a job working for the Obama Administration as an Associate Director in the White House Office of Public Liaison.

The films marked his entry into the Stoner movie Hall of Fame. Bongs. Girls, and the Munchies. But you may not know that he was one of the loudest voices on the campaign trail while stumping for President Obama this past year. This UCLA graduate also taught courses at University of Pennsylvania entitled, “Images of Asian Americans in the Media,” and “Contemporary Teen Films.”

Most recently, he had been starring on the Fox show, “House,” as well as starring in the Mira Nair film, “The Namesake.” But he acknowledges his call to do something greater than smoking weed with President Bush, just like he did in “Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanomo Bay.”

Penn says, “There’s not a lot of financial reward in these jobs,” he said. “But, obviously, the opportunity to serve in a capacity like this is an incredible honor.”

Hey Kal, looks like you’ll have to put away that bong. For now, at least.
