Leaked Grand Theft Auto V Map Reveals Game’s Massive Scale

Can’t wait for Grand Theft Auto V to ship next Tuesday, September 17? Neither can I. Certainly not helping: a leaked map of Los Santos and Blaine counties, the world players will navigate in the game.

As you can see below, the game area is absolutely massive — at least several times larger than any previous Grand Theft Auto game. In fact, the game’s maker, Rockstar Games, has previously stated that the GTAV world is bigger than the worlds of Grand Theft Auto 4, Red Dead Redemption, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas combined.

As we’ve discussed before, gamers will play not one, not two, but three characters in Grand Theft Auto V. They’ll be able to play those characters offline or through Rockstar Games’ GTA Online environment, which allows sixteen players to cause mayhem together. (Unfortunately, GTA Online won’t be available until it’s released as a free update on October 1.)

And it’s not just Grand Theft Auto V‘s world that’s massive. The game’s soundtrack is also huge, with more than two hundred songs for players to listen to.

Forbes says the leaked maps satellite view came from a “prematurely released copy of Brady Games’ strategy guide.” Rockstar hasn’t confirmed that it’s authentic, though it sure looks legit to me.

Grand Theft Auto V will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Rockstar hasn’t yet announced if it will update the game for PC and next-gen consoles like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
