It feels like most of the Internet has moved on from the story of Charles Ramsey, the Cleveland, Ohio man who stopped eating his breakfast Big Mac to help free Amanda Berry and three other females who were rescued from the home of Ariel Castro on May 6. The story isn’t quite done, though. Today, I bring you the final chapter of the trilogy. And it kind of has the feel of The Godfather: Part III — in that it’s way crappier than the first two.

As Manolith reported, Ramsey made a point of shouting out McDonald’s in his nationally televised interviews after the whole thing went down. This led to the official McDonald’s Twitter page sending a tweet his way and the assumption that he’d soon have access to all the free Big Macs he could eat.

Though McDonald’s failed to step up to the plate with the key to the city of McDonaldland, more than a dozen local restaurants offered Ramsey burgers for life. Sounds like a pretty good consolation prize, right?

Now, in a stunning twist, Ramsey has rejected all offers of free burgers. In a less stunning twist, it sounds like he just wants to get on with his life as a normal person.

“I never told these people they could use my name for this,” Ramsey said in a statement released via his attorney, Patricia Walker.

Walker also revealed that Ramsey isn’t a fan of Burger Bash, an online game that allows players to act as Ramsey and throw hamburgers at an Ariel Castro character.

“I want everyone to know that I have nothing to do with this trash,” he stated.

An owner of a restaurant offering free food to Ramsey apologized for his offer being misinterpreted.

“We are saddened to hear that Chuck did not take this — or the offer of so many Cleveland restaurants to give him free meals — in the spirit we intended.”
