Fans of comic book movies have known for many months now that director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) has been attached to Ant-Man — a character once thought impossible to translate to a feature-length film.

Though we still don’t have any concrete news to report on when Marvel will finally release an Ant-Man movie (it’s tentatively scheduled for November 6, 2015), we do have some exciting news to share with you today. The minute of Ant-Man test footage Wright showed to the audience at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con is finally online for the world to see. It’s not the greatest quality, as it was captured by an audience member’s camera, but it still gives us a very good look at what an Ant-Man movie might look and feel like.

Without further ado, here it is:

It looks pretty promising, right?

As goofy as the Ant-Man character is, it might actually work better in movie format than in ink. There’s something thrilling about seeing a tiny thing kick so much ass on the big screen. And the potential for all kinds of cool visuals — a Honey, I Shrunk the Kids for the CGI era, if you will — is immense.

Though the footage above was just a test, it looks like they got Ant-Man’s look right. His costume in the comics is very campy, but Wright appears to have given it just the right amount of realism.
