Buzzkill Calls Police Because His Neighbor Was LOLing Too Loudly

A New York man recently had police show up at his door and issue him two summonses after his neighbor called the authorities to report him. His crime? Laughing too loud.

Yep, he was LOLing in the privacy of his own home. That’s it. And that can be illegal, apparently.

The summonses received by Robert Schiavelli of Long Island were for disturbing the peace, which suggests that he was laughing really, really loudly. The neighbor who called the cops was not named, but he allegedly heard Schiavelli laughing from across a driveway and felt that he was in violation of the law, which stipulates that individuals may not act “in such a manner as to annoy, disturb, interfere with, obstruct, or be offensive to others.”

Geez… what would have happened if he was ROTFLing or (gasp!) LMAOing?

Schiavelli was arraigned yesterday and asked the judge to dismiss the charges. The judge refused.

Schiavelli says he’s disabled and is often taunted by his neighbor. He says he deals with the abuse by laughing it off.
