Adolf Hitler and Frankenstein Are Up for Election in India

In the northern Indian state of Meghalaya, a general election is being held for the state assembly. Of the 345 individuals who have tossed their name into the hat, there are a handful of candidates who are snagging early votes and support based on name recognition. Billykid Sangma is a popular choice for voters this election, as is Jhim Carter Sangma — we’re all aware of the philanthropic, peace-seeking work of his namesake.

Then there are the truly odd choices, like Frankenstein Momin and everyone’s favorite, Adolf Hitler.

The 54-year-old Hitler has served three terms with little to no controversy. He was named by his father, who aided the British forces during WWII and allegedly became fascinated with the characterization of Hitler through the military stories. Said Hitler Part Deux, “I am aware at one point of time Adolf Hitler was the most hated person on Earth for the genocide of the Jews. But my father added ‘Lu’ in between, naming me Adolf Lu Hitler, and that’s why I am different.”

No doubt, my man. There’s that, and the fact that you’re not a Jew-hating, fascist, imperialist dictator bent on white-washing the world.

Ah, Friday. The best day for WTF news. It’s that reminder than we shouldn’t be taking ourselves too seriously over the upcoming weekend.
