Harrison Ford to Reprise Han Solo in Star Wars Reboot?

Is Harrison Ford really going to reprise his role as Han Solo in the J.J. Abrams-led Star Wars reboot?

Sure. Why not?

We have to keep in mind that this is the same J.J. Abrams who went to the well twice when casting Spock for the 2009 reboot of Star Trek. He just had to get Leonard Nimoy in the mix. It should come as no surprise that reports of Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role are no longer just speculation, but are now being reported as if there is an agreement in principal (with the final details to be ironed out).

It’s presumed to be the same situation for Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Anthony Daniels, who are also “rumored” to be reprising their own well-known roles in the next Star Wars storyline. No doubt these Star Wars vets are negotiating for their sweet cut on the back end. They’ve been there and done that– and will reap the rewards once again.

For now, it looks like we can all forget the rumors of Shia LeBeouf sliding into the role of Solo. For multiple reasons, it just doesn’t work. I live just down the street from the House of Mickey, also known as Disney Studios, and no such rhetoric has leaked to me. I’ve only managed to eavesdrop on a few choice details — like one about the storyline taking place several years after we left the heroes of the Rebel Alliance in Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

It’s not hard to imagine that there will be a reemergence of the dark side, and I wonder if the “Big 3” (Luke, Leia and Han) will suffer fates similar to that of Obi-Wan Kenobi in Episode IV. Probably so. It’ll be such a nerdly emotional experience.
