Sour Grapes: Wes Welker’s Wife, Anna Burns Welker, Calls Out Ray Lewis for Murder and Fathering Six Kids

When the New England Patriots lost to the New York Giants in last year’s Super Bowl, one of the most bitter quotes from a member of the Patriots family after the game came from the mouth of Tom Brady’s wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen. She threw the Patriots’ receivers under the bus, saying her “husband can not f**king throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time.”

Now, on the heels of the Patriots’ bitter loss to the Baltimore Ravens in yesterday’s AFC Championship, which was the first time a Tom Brady-led Patriots team has ever blown a halftime lead at home (they were an incredible 67-0 prior to the loss), it’s another Patriots wife that’s speaking out.

This time, it’s wide receiver Wes Welker’s wife, Anna Burns Welker. She took to Facebook after the game to express her anger. And, in the process, she called out Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis.

Her Facebook page is locked down to the public, but The Big Lead got a (blurry) screencap of her rant. Take a look at what she had to say:

Wow… sour grapes much?

Now, what she’s saying isn’t technically incorrect. However, she’s framing it all wrong. Lewis was never convicted of murder. Sure, his whole story remains sketchy to this day, and he definitely obstructed the police and destroyed evidence, but, again, the charges were dropped. You don’t get to hold that over someone’s head.

As for how many kids he has — why is that any of the Welker family’s concern? And why would it have anything to do with whether Lewis is a Hall of Fame player (which he most certainly is).

Say the Patriots had won. Would it be okay for the wives of the Ravens to take shots at the Welkers? Would it be cool to bring up the fact that Burns Welker is a former Miss Hooters International (2005)?

Would it be okay to publicly recall the time that Wes and a bunch of buddies got drunk, acted like douchebags and tried to crash a private party?

Of course not. Those events have nothing to do with the game on the field. Bringing them up just shows what a sore loser you are.

Look, most of the nation is dreading the Ray Lewis lovefest that’s inevitable in the lead-up to the Super Bowl. His ultra-religious persona is over the top and he’s not the only player who has something riding on this game. Still, his team won the game and he earned all the attention that’s coming to him. Taking underhanded shots at him at this stage just reflects poorly on yourself.

How dear you attempt to hate on Ray Lewis. You sound as dumb as that other bony, ugly trash who tried to hate on her mans team. 2. Bravo Anne. Ray Lewis should not be allowed to even play in the NFL. He is hiding behind GOD. He is not a real man. Two lives have been taken and no one has been convicted. He turned on his friends and again hiding behind GOD.
