Jesus Look-Alike Kicked Out of Darts Competition (VIDEO)

It doesn’t matter if your name is Nathan Grindal of Oxford — not if you look like the most common artistic renderings of Jesus the Galilean. If you’re wandering through a crowd of some 4,000 spectators and participants at a darts competition, heads will turn.

Darts are synonymous with pubs, and this competition boasted the raucous, drunken nature of the world’s largest pub. Gotta love the Brits.

Grindal was there to enjoy the competition, but he became the object of affection/rejection for many bystanders, many of whom became disinterested in competition between two of the world’s foremost darts players, and began singing “Stand Up if You Love Jesus.”

Have a look:

This is one of the most awkward and entertaining things I’ve ever seen. Grindal could have gone along with it, and enjoyed the singing and chanting, but instead, feeling mocked, he “turned the other cheek” in fittingly biblical fashion. And then he was led away by authorities. It was just so…Jesus.

Grindal was upset by the incident. Word even got back to him that one of the participants (Phil “The Power” Taylor) had a few harsh words for the messianic doppelganger, to which Grindal responded:

“It was distressing. I was emotionally distraught. The crowd were bullying me and picking on me. It would have been OK if security hadn’t made a fuss getting me out…In his post-match interview, Phil Taylor said something like, ‘If I ever see Jesus again, I’ll crucify him myself.’ Now that’s just hurtful.”
