Want ‘Dark Souls II’ on Wii U? Sign the Petition

Right now it doesn’t look like Dark Souls II will be coming to the Wii U. However, a new petition has been drafted in an attempt to convince the companies behind Dark Souls – From Software and Namco Bandai – to bring the upcoming game to Nintendo’s newest console.

If you’re not familiar with Dark Souls, it’s a medieval-themed third-person action game with a serious difficulty level. There are no tutorials and saving one’s game is a complicated process that revives fallen (and very challenging) enemies.

Die twice and you lose all of your “souls,” which essentially represent the game’s cash system. Losing souls can set a player back hours of game time and prompt serious controller smashing.

For that reason, beating Dark Souls is something to brag about. That’s why it’s so popular with many hardcore gamers.

From Software announced that Dark Souls II was in the works last week. The game will be available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 sometime next year.

But it may not make it to the Wii U — and that has prompted one gamer to create a Change.org petition designed to pressure Dark Souls publisher Namco Bandai into bringing the game to the new Nintendo system.

As of today, the petition had reached 10,000 signatures.

According to the petition’s creator, From Software and Namco Bandai would be wise to build a Wii U version of Dark Souls II.

Because the Wii U’s touchscreen gamepad could be used for tracking inventory.

Given that the Wii U is priced at a relatively affordable $299 (and up), the petition’s creator also believes lots of people will own one by the time Dark Souls II is released. That means more cash for Namco Bandai and From Software.
