The interwebs have been in an uproar over new images showing the iPhone 5C, the long-rumored budget-priced version of Apple’s popular smartphone.
The images are being distributed by Sonny Dickson, an Australian blogger who has leaked top-secret Apple info in the past. Dickson reportedly acquired the images through a source working at one of Apple’s Asian supply facilities.
So, what sets the iPhone 5C apart?
As the images show, it’s more colorful and features a cheaper plastic casing. Some critics have expressed concern that a plastic case will make the iPhone 5C too delicate and prone to breaking. However, experts counter the 5C likely won’t be less durable — it might just feel that way.
Fans of the iPod’s wide range of color choices will be pleased with the possibility of owning a yellow, blue, red or green iPhone 5C.
Dickson’s images also show a champagne-colored iPhone 5S, suggesting Apple is hoping to give even this version of its smartphone an aesthetic overhaul.
We don’t know how much either the iPhone 5C or the iPhone 5S will cost. Recent reports have suggested the former could be available unlocked for $349.
Apple is expected to reveal details about the iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5S at a public event slated for September 10, 2013.
