Oh, that Stephen Tyrone Colbert. He’s a funny guy.

You can never be quite sure if what he’s telling you is the hard truth, satire, a complete fabrication or in some magical manner, a combination of all three.

Regardless of his shtick, he’s one of those guys who genuinely makes me proud to be an American … and a human being. Sure, I’ve got a bit of a man-crush on Colbert. Who doesn’t?

When he announced the show would be hosting its annual concert series the first full week of August, it was cause for excitement. Though the Report isn’t a show specializing in musical guests, Colbert’s concert series have still offered a wonderful range of artists, from Jack White to Grizzly Bear.

In 2011 it was the “Rock You Like a Thirst-I-Cane” concert series. Last summer, it was the “RocktAugustFest.” This year the series has been dubbed “Colbchella,” and will reportedly feature Daft Punk.

This is a rarity, folks. A genuine rarity. When’s the last time you remember seeing Daft Punk do a legitimate, live performance for a TV audience? Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t it at the 2008 Grammy Awards while backing Kanye West?

And when has the duo ever done a talk show? Ever? I don’t think so. Mr. Colbert, my interest is piqued.
