Every summer, digital distribution service Steam drastically slashes the prices of some of its most popular games.

The service, which allows users to download games and interact with one another through social media-style features, is by far the most popular PC gaming portal: it controls up to 70 per cent of the digital distribution market, by some estimates. It also has 54 million active users and a library of more than 2,000 games.

This year’s summer sale is likely to increase that user count. Here are just some of the deals available through Steam right now:

Bioshock Infinite: $29.00
Defiance: $13.59
Left 4 Dead 2: $4.99
Hotline Miami: $2.49
Call of Juarez Gunslinger: $10.04

Steam’s also planning a number of short-lived “flash” sales (running eight hours) for Dragon Age: Ultimate Edition, Grid 2, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Finally, a community choice sale (also running every eight hours) will allow Steam users to pick the game they want discounted. The next sale features three critically acclaimed games, including Dishonored, Borderlands 2 and Far Cry 3.
