I’m not ashamed to admit I beat every level in Plants vs. Zombies and even played the dumb Zen Garden thing for a while. I’m a little bit ashamed to admit I played the entire game through a second time (what else am I gonna do while I’m pooping — read?!), but it is what it is. It was a really great game and I came to love those plants. (Jalapeno is my dude.) I’ll fight to the death anyone who doesn’t think Column Like You See ‘Em is the best level in any mobile game.
It feels like it’s been years since the heyday of Plants vs. Zombies — because it has. The game was released for OS X in 2009 and then for iOS in early 2010. In a world where there are five different versions of Angry Birds and new level packs get released all the time, there’s still just the one Plants vs. Zombies.
That ends soon.
Aptly named Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time, this is the official trailer for the long-awaited PvZ sequel:
It’s not the greatest trailer ever, but it gets the job done, right? Though there’s no gameplay to be seen, we do get a glimpse at what appears to be a new plant (that weird boomerang thing at about the 0:30 mark). There’s also a strong hint that there will be time travel in the game.
And now for the bad news. The game comes out in July, but unless you have an iOS device, you won’t be able to play. As of now, there’s no word on when it might come to PC or Android. Considering EA’s relationship with PopCap games, should anyone be surprised?
