This can probably be categorized as one of the greatest moments of WTF in the history of WTF.
There’s no way this was a planned aspect of Miguel’s performance at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards. The somewhat-well-known R&B artist was obviously feeling his performance. So much so that he wanted everyone else to share in that feeling.
It’s probably safe to say Miguel won’t be attempting to qualify for the long jump in this summer’s Track and Field World Championships. It’s also probably safe to say that the two girls who took the brunt of the blow have become intimately close with Excedrin Migraine.
You can really imagine the conversation afterwards, can’t you? “I was like, so, so excited to be so close to the action! It just never occurred to me that my face might end up as part of the stage.”
And what does Miguel do after dropping an atomic double leg drop/spread eagle bomb? He keeps on singing. He jumps into his falsetto and just keeps on singing and/or lip-syncing, and/or singing over the click-track vocals — whatever it is they do these days at live performances. Like a true professional, he knew the show had to go on.
And maybe the best part of it all? He offers condolences to the wrong woman.
