Fans of the British horror-comedies Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz — that is, anyone with a sense of humor and braaaiinnns — got a tantalizing first look this week at The World’s End.
Although not technically a sequel or prequel to anything, The World’s End seems at first glance like part of a trilogy, which is probably a good thing.
It’s predecessors — both directed by Edgar Wright and starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost — are ridiculously entertaining, and it looks like The World’s End will have many of the same endearingly wonky qualities.
Guys desperate to get to a pub? Check. A creepy town overrun by some kind evil humanoids? Check. A sight gag about jumping over a fence? Check.
Expectations are going to be extremely high The World’s End when it’s released this August. If the trailer is any indication, it could well be on track to exceed them.
