Remember when Colin Kaepernick tore through the Packers’ and Falcons’ defenses in the 2013 NFL playoffs like some kind of genetically engineered superquarterback, the likes of which we had never seen? It feels like forever ago, doesn’t it?
Kaepernick hasn’t forgotten. The young quarterback is said to be on a mission this off-season. Despite his break-out season and how well he performed in the playoffs, the reality is that the 49ers fell just short in the Super Bowl and Kaep’s superhuman play wasn’t quite super enough.
Recently, 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said that he’s worried his signal-caller will get “too jacked-up” because he’s been hitting the gym so hard in preparation for next season. That’s a new one as far as off-season worries go. NFL coaches have to deal with players getting arrested, doing drugs and getting fat. Very rarely do they come to camp too in shape.
Though Kaepernick and his teammates won’t get to visit the White House like all Super Bowl-winning teams do, he did manage to get himself a pretty nifty consolation prize.
Earlier today, Kaepernick got to meet Michelle Obama and he managed to convince her to pose for a photo with the two of them kissing their biceps — “Kaepernicking,” as it was known during that magical January run.
This is what it looked like:
