See that bad-ass image above? That’s our first look at what General Zod’s helmet will look like in the upcoming film Man of Steel. The more we learn about the character of Zod, who will be played by Michael Shannon, the more it sounds like he could steal the movie (which would be a pretty impressive feat considering the guy he’s up against is literally Superman).
Take another look at that helmet, though. Does it look kind of familiar to you? It turns out that a lot of people are saying it does.
Now, this doesn’t mean the producers of Man of Steel stole any design ideas. On the contrary, it seems like Hollywood as a whole has pretty much one good idea for what metal helmets should look like in an action/sci-fi franchise — and it’s based roughly on what gas masks looked like in World War II.
Seriously. Take a look at how similar all these other helmets are:

Got any more lookalike helmets? Post them in the comments.
Did you see Oblivion? Straight Predator influence in one of those helmets. If it ain’t broke…?
Yeah it’s weird how they only have one idea for how human heads are shaped and organized, what with the breathing parts in the lower front and the seeing parts above that. So strange that they’d always put the matching components in the same place.
Geeze, I’m all for snark, but this is just dumb.
