Couch potatoes, rejoice! You can now order Pizza Hut without leaving the living room or shutting down your Microsoft video game console. The Redmond, Wash.-based firm has announced a new deal that will allow gamers to download a special Pizza Hut ordering application.
According to Microsoft, the app makes the entire Pizza Hut menu available to users of Xbox Live. Using their credit cards, gamers can place a takeaway or delivery order. They can even announce their decision to order terribly unhealthy food by easily connecting to Facebook.
It’s worth noting that the app is specially built for Microsoft’s Kinect peripheral, meaning gamers can use hand gestures or their voice to order awful pizza.
Helping to promote the new app is retired professional Halo player, David “Walshy” Walsh, who says he was “stoked when Pizza Hut reached out to me with the opportunity to help them launch their new app for Xbox LIVE.”
Microsoft spokesman Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb says the decision to partner with Pizza Hut just made sense.
“If you look at our audience, they love pizza,” Hryb said in a recent interview with Polygon. “I mean, who doesn’t? It has international appeal, and Pizza Hut is a recognised brand that matches up well with the Xbox brand.”
There’s no denying that gamers love pizza. The real question is this: does the greaseball bread sold by Pizza Hut actually qualify as pizza? Really makes you think.
In any case, if you actually enjoy Pizza Hut “food,” then you should give the app a try. It’s available now to North American Xbox Live users. Use it in the next two weeks and you’ll receive a 15 per cent discount.
