Will Ferrell and Jack Black will reportedly star in a new movie based on a real-life game of tag. The Hollywood Reporter says New Line Cinema has picked up the film, which is based on a true story originally reported by The Wall Street Journal earlier this year.
Back in January, the WSJ reported on a game of tag that has been played by a group of ten friends for more than two decades. Those in the group, which consists of Spokane, Wash., men now in their forties, call themselves the Tag Brothers.
The WSJ report revealed that the long-running tag game has gotten out of hand at times, with friends breaking into each other’s homes and offices.
After a number of people showed interest in the story, the Tag Brothers sold the movie rights to Todd Garner, who will produce the film. Mark Steilen, who has written such thought-provoking films as The Pooch and the Pauper, Stuck on You and Hall Pass, will pen the script.
Here’s hoping this one is more Old School and less Blades of Glory.
