According to a book produced by the Detroit Free Press, the University of Michigan won the 2013 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
This is wonderful development. Personally, I absolutely love it. So much so that I just pre-ordered a copy of Blue Heaven: The A-Maize-Ing Story of the Michigan Wolverines’ Return to Glory–and Their Second NCAA Title!
The Detroit Free Press has issued an apology to fans, saying that they had a book prepared for Michigan’s potential championship victory, but that it was never meant to be sold if Michigan didn’t win.
Unfortunately, Amazon released the title and the ability to pre-order a copy, even after Michigan failed to capitalize on its opportunity Monday night. Or maybe the brass at Amazon misunderstood Michigan head coach John Beilein when he stated that both teams were winners.
As of the time of this post, the book is still available at Amazon. If you’re into rare publication screw-ups (assuming they’ll still offer it), or are a huge Michigan fan who’d like to occasionally get drunk and pour through the pages of the 2012-2013 basketball season, here’s your chance to score the goods.
If the book does see print, and you can somehow get the autographs of Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway, Jr., Glenn Robinson III, Mitch McGary and of course, Spike Albrecht, this thing would be the rarest of the rare.
Alas, I’m sure within a few days I’ll be receiving an email and an “Amazon credit” courtesy of Detroit Free Press — and no book.
