This Is the Pathetic State of ‘Harlem Shake’ Videos Today

Remember the “Harlem Shake?” It was that stupid video trend where (almost always white) people wore costumes and gyrated wildly to a song that’s about a specific dance, with no one ever actually doing the dance.

You know… the “Harlem Shake.” Did you really forget about it already? It was a thing just six or seven weeks ago — though, admittedly, it does feel more like six or seven years.

Much like the few remaining Amazonian tribes yet uncontacted by the civilized world, there are still small pockets of people who are just discovering the “Harlem Shake” — and joining in the fun that we all unjoined way back when some other old dude was the pope and Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos were but a rumor.

It’s not much of a leap to conclude that the kind of person who’s only finding out about the “Harlem Shake” now isn’t exactly living his or her life at the cutting edge of culture and technology. As the video below suggests, it’s also probably fair to assume that such a person might be missing a few marbles, making the otherwise simple act of gyrating in place become an arduous task rife with potential for massive failure.

I think we’re done here.
