PlayStation 4, Xbox 720 Due Late October: ‘Assassin’s Creed 4’ Director Lets Info Slip

The director of the next Assassin’s Creed game may have just leaked important information about Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 launch dates.

In a recent interview, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag director Jean Guesdon was asked if his game would be released simultaneously on all video game platforms, including current and next-generation consoles.

Guesdon replied by saying the game would have the “same ship” date across all platforms.

It wasn’t much of a slip, but it was enough to send shockwaves through the video game industry. So long as Guesdon knows what he’s talking about (it is possible he’s just speculating on Black Flag’s release dates) it appears that the Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 could ship at or before Black Flag’s October 31st launch.

All in all, it’s not really that surprising. Video game industry insiders have been suggesting for months that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720 will be available before the end of 2013. But now it appears even more certain that the consoles will be released at this time, and that they will be available relatively early in the holiday shopping season.

You can watch Guesdon’s interview below. There’s only a brief discussion about next-gen consoles at the mid-five minute mark, but there’s lots of info about Ubisoft’s new Assassin’s Creed, which is set in the Caribbean during the swashbuckling seventeenth century.
