Hit play on the video above and then place both your thumbs beneath your jaw and press upwards. You don’t want your jaw to drop so hard that it snaps off your face.
This video was shot by a fan during the pre-game warmups at last night’s NBA game between the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Heat players held an impromptu, ultra-casual dunk show-off event, as NBA teams occasionally do when they’re trying to stay loose and impress the women in the crowd prior to tip-off.
After a few players turned in respectable, if unspectacular dunks, LeBron James stepped up and did that.
Making it look so damn easy it hurts, James glided through a 360-between-the-legs-off-the-backboard-one-handed jam that would have won him this year’s Slam Dunk Contest hands down.
Was James motivated by seeing his old team across the court, or is he simply so talented that he’s the best dunker in the world even when he’s not trying? You can decide for yourself, but I’m firmly in column B. The guy in unreal. Imagine what kind of dunk he’d turn in if he was actually trying.
Sadly, we’re never going to see him in the official Slam Dunk Contest. Seeing displays like this on YouTube is a decent consolation, though.
