D-Link Unveils Appropriately Named ‘Gaming Router,’ Might Have Solved Lag Once And For All

Ever have trouble finding a sufficiently stable Internet connection for your online gaming needs? There really is nothing worse than getting fragged because of lag or a choppy connection.

Well, I suppose there are things worse than getting killed in a video game. But not much!

Router maker D-Link thinks it has a solution to the problem. At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the firm showed off a new device designed specifically for video gamers.

Surprisingly, it’s not called the RazrX or the Xlink or something like that. Instead, the device goes by the simple name “Gaming Router.” And, according to D-Link, it’s the first 802.11ac-based router constructed with video gamers in mind.

D-Link’s Gaming Router reportedly supports Qualcomm’s new StreamBoost technology, which is designed to learn your Internet behavior and dynamically allocate home bandwidth.

In other words, the Gaming Router can allocate your PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 or PC more bandwidth than other devices connected to your router.

(So, if your girlfriend is looking at Pinterest in another room, her Mac won’t get the same attention as your gaming device.)

That means the Gaming Router is designed to provide the best, most stable connection for online gaming possible.

The Gaming Router features a nifty cylindrical design and will reportedly hit retailers later in the spring. Pricing information is not yet available.

  1. Hello! Do you know if they make any plugins to safeguard against hackers?
I’m kinda paranoid about losing everything I’ve worked hard on.

    Any recommendations?

  2. Today, I went to the beachfront with my children.
I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and
said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell
to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had
    to tell someone!

  3. First of all I want to say excellent blog!
I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you do not mind.
I was interested to find out how you center yourself and clear your thoughts before writing.
I’ve had trouble clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out.
I do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first
10 to 15 minutes are usually lost just trying
to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or tips? Kudos!
