As of right now, more than 36,000 people have signed a petition calling for the deportation of CNN chat show (and poncy Brit) Piers Morgan, in response to his stance on gun control in America. Thousands more will surely sign by Christmas Day.

Morgan’s stance in a nutshell: fewer guns, please.

Clearly, this kind of rabble-rouser must be silenced!

The text of the petition states that Morgan “is engaged in a hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment.”

Having surpassed 25,000 signatures, the petition has met the milestone required to get an official response from the U.S. Government. Incredulous snickering doesn’t count as an official response, but it should in this case.

Morgan has rightfully laughed off the accusations that he is an anti-American subversive, tweeting: “Ironic US gun rights campaign to deport me for ‘attacking Second Amendment rights’ – is my opinion not protected under 1st Amendment rights?”

Of course, that is a slam-dunk argument that, in a sensible world, would completely silence the numbskulls calling for his deportation. But it will surely only add fuel to the fire.

The backlash against Morgan began Tuesday, when he interviewed Gun Owners of America executive director Larry Pratt, who suggested that more guns is a viable remedy to America’s gun violence.

Morgan retorted: “You’re an unbelievably stupid man, aren’t you?”

And now Morgan is an enemy of the state.

The gun lobbyists have got the issue all wrong. Piers Morgan shouldn’t be deported for his stance on gun laws. He should be deported for letting this happen:

  1. Not surprising. Gun nuts tend to be both rabidly conservative and blindly religious and so become hysterical when any of their idiotic beliefs are questioned. They hate anyone disagreeing with them since their pathetic house of cards is hard enough to keep up as it is.
