So you’ve played Halo 4, Forza Horizon, Killzone 3 and Gears of War 3. It’s possible you could call any one of those titles the best-looking game of this generation.
However, the makers of the upcoming first-person shooter Crysis 3 say the best is yet to come.
“Crysis 3 is absolutely maxing out the consoles,” Yerli said. “There is absolutely not even one percent left. No game will ever look technically better than Crysis 3 on these consoles, flat-out. Most games are not even anywhere near Crysis 2 technically. I’m not talking about art style — art is subjective — but the pure fact of what we have been cramming in with Crysis 2 on Xbox and PlayStation , I’ve yet to see a game do that still today.”
Yerli even went so far as to draw a direct comparison between Crysis 3 and both Halo and Gears of War. In his opinion, there’s no contest when it comes to visuals.
“Any day I will take a battle against Gears and Halo, whatever, the amount of data we put in and the detail level is far superior,” Yerli insisted. “With Crysis 3, we’re pushing that to another level, but the PC is just two levels beyond.”
Crysis 3 won’t be the first Crysis game released for consoles. Crysis 2 has been available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 since early last year. It, too, is considered a great-looking game.
The original Crysis, which was available only for PC, was considered by many gamers the most demanding computer game of its generation. Being able to play Crysis on maxed-out resolution settings required one beast of a gaming rig.
But a game isn’t judged on visuals alone — and that’s been the Crysis series’ downfall thus far. Don’t get me wrong, they’re great games — but they don’t quite boast the gripping gameplay that has made Halo and Gears of War so popular.
Gamers will get their opportunity to provide their own opinion when Crysis 3 ships February 19.
