Got $25,000 just hanging around? Then you might be interested in an eBay auction that includes all 721 Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) games. That’s every single SNES game released in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The asking price: oh, just $24,999. Or best offer, of course.
According to Gamespot, dozens of offers have been made in recent days, though each has been rejected.
The collection includes SNES heavyweights like Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Country, Chrono Trigger, Harvest Moon, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario Kart, Final Fantasy III, and Super Metroid (and all the clunkers too).
Roughly eight in every 10 of the games come with a manual, ranging in condition from fair to “near mint.” The seller says he’s had every single title “professionally” cleaned and tested to make sure they work properly.
The collection does not include unlicensed games.
In total, the games, manuals, and cases weigh in at more than 400 pounds.
On Reddit the seller noted that he (we’re assuming it’s a guy) would prefer not to make the final sale through eBay, thereby saving the substantial fees applied by the auction site. Since eBay takes about 10 percent of every sale, roughly $2,500 would be lost to the seller.
The seller also noted that he lives in Columbus, Ohio, and would be open to pick-up. In fact, he’s even offering to let people swing by and give the collection a peek.
An estimated 50 million Super Nintendos were sold worldwide. Although it was not as popular as its predecessor, the NES, many gamers consider it the best console ever made. Cough up 25 grand and you can make a well-researched decision on the matter yourself.
