Reviewing GameStop’s Big Black Friday Bargains

Video game retailer GameStop is reportedly pulling out all the stops this Black Friday by allowing video game addicts and bargain hunters alike to shop at midnight — the company just revealed that 3,000 of its U.S.-based locations will open their doors at 12 a.m. on Friday, November 23.

But, is it worth breaking away from a Halo 4 or Black Ops II multiplayer session?

Let’s take a look at the best bargains GameStop is offering.

1. Gamers can pick up an Xbox 360 250GB console bundle that includes Forza Motorsport 4, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The cost: $250.

What I think:

Personally, I don’t know who’s buying an Xbox 360 right now. It’s a 7-year-old console that will probably be phased out by the long-rumored Xbox 720 in a year.

That said, if you just emerged from a cave where video games were specifically off limits, it’s a deal worth considering.

Two of the three games included in this bundle are relatively new (Skyrim and Black Ops II), and Skyrim is, without a doubt, the best game offered during this console generation. Forza 4, while a great game, is hard to get excited about given the recent release of Forza Horizon.

2. Buy two used games and get a third one free.

What I think:

GameStop charges far too much for used games. In some cases, it knocks $5 to $10 off for a preowned game. In the end, this deal evens things out a little for the consumer. It’s no big whoop.

3. Buyers of the Wii version of Just Dance 4 will get Just Dance 3 for free.

What I think:

Your girlfriend and little cousins will love this.
