Employees Play iPad Catch, Show Why You Shouldn’t Buy an iPad From Walmart (VIDEO)

Black Friday is rapidly approaching, which means that a buttload of televisions, laptops and tablets are about to be purchased at big box stores.

The Walmart employees in the video above make a convincing argument for why you might want to consider shopping somewhere other than Walmart, though. They filmed themselves violently tossing around boxes that they say contain iPads and posted the video to YouTube. Probably not the best idea with regards to their job security. Also, probably not the kind of publicity Walmart wants as the shopping season approaches. It’s a safe bet that these guys are either out of a job already or will soon find themselves looking for work.

It should go without saying that iPads aren’t designed to absorb the punishment of being thrown around a warehouse. Though they are packed snugly in the boxes they are shipped in, iPad screens are known to shatter when dropped from only a few feet.

It’s worth noting that we don’t know for certain if this video is real. The Redditor who posted it, a user who goes by the name of SeniorPierre, claims it was sent to him by employees who work at the store. It’s possible the boxes are empty and this is an elaborate prank — though it’s hard to say who the prank is on if it’s all an elaborate setup. That said, you’re probably better off playing it safe and not shopping for iPads or any other tablets at Walmart if you live in Pikeville, Kentucky (where this video was allegedly shot).

  1. Hi. This is Kira from Walmart’s Customer Service Department. We were extremely disappointed to see such disregard for our customers and products. We are currently conducting an internal investigation and will be taking the necessary disciplinary actions. We’d like to reassure our customers that we are inspecting our electronic merchandise inventory and stand behind the products we sell. If there is an issue with a product you purchase at any location, it will be replaced or you will be refunded.

    • The associates involved no longer work for Walmart. Since this unfortunate incident, we haven’t received any returns of this merchandise. We stand behind our merchandise and our associates and assure our customers that they can, too.
