Tyrann Mathieu Cannot Keep Hands Out of The Honey, Busted on Drug Related Charges

Remember that kid everyone was talking about a year ago? He was the rage of the LSU Tigers, rocking the blonde locks and dubbed “Honey Badger.”

Right. Tyrann Mathieu. A young, defensive corner back with football instincts you simply cannot teach. You just unleash them on opponents. Which is what LSU did. Unfortunately, the love for the ability didn’t translate to shared accountability off the field. The “Honey Badger” couldn’t stop dippin’ into the honey stash.

He got kicked off the team. Went to rehab. Remained enrolled at LSU, and was hoping to rejoin the team next season. Yes. Was. Those hopes were probably squashed by Baton Rouge police on Thursday.

Mathieu was chilling at home with former LSU quarterback, Jordan Jefferson, as well as two other former players. Police were contacted by a resident of Mathieu’s apartment complex, who reported he saw a man, Jefferson, pushing through a security gate. Allegedly, Jefferson even had words with a maintenance worker. Long story short, police showed up, Mathieu opened the door, the apartment reeked of weed and police ask to search the joint.

Mathieu, Jefferson and Karnell Hatcher were arrested for possession of marijuana, while Derrick Bryant was charged with possession with intent to distribute.

As an LSU fan, I pity Mathieu. His instincts on and off the field are disparate. He doesn’t understand how to choose friends who have his best interest at heart. He needs mandatory, weekly drug testing for THC. I genuinely hope the judge orders it. Haters gonna hate, but before you pipe up and snark off, dig into his story. That having been said…

Jordan Jefferson. This guy. Good grief. I’ll never understand why he was at LSU in the first place. As his “back-up” works on an NFL roster, Jefferson’s doing Thursday weed deals in the apartment of a friend who is already living on egg shells.
