Amanda Todd’s Cyber Bully Exposed by “Hacktivist” Group

The man who may have made Amanda Todd’s life a living hell has been exposed by international hacktivist group Anonymous. The group reportedly posted pictures of the man, in addition to his name, age, and street address, on pastebin.com.

Amanda Todd’s story has captured the attention of British Columbia, Canada, and much of the world. The 15-year-old B.C. girl killed herself last week after a bully convinced her to send along nude pictures, which the bully promptly posted online. Those pictures were also reportedly sent to Todd’s friends, making it virtually impossible for her to keep or make friends at school.

Todd took to YouTube to express her emotions. She also reportedly began consuming drugs and alcohol, and even made an unsuccessful attempt to commit suicide by drinking bleach. Unfortunately, it seems nothing could be done to prevent the teenager from making a second suicide attempt.

In Canada the response has been to re-evaluate programs put in place to prevent these kinds of things from happening. Federal officials have called for the creation of new strategies to investigate how cyber bullying differs from traditional bullying, and how kids, parents, and school officials can confront it before issues get out of control.

However, that response hasn’t been enough for Anonymous. Someone claiming to represent the group recently exposed the man said to have demanded Todd send him nude photos, which he then posted online.

“This is the pedophile that social engineered Amanda Todd into supplying him nude pictures,” the post read.

Police say they’ve acknowledged the claims and are investigating the situation. However, they haven’t yet filed charges against the man, who is currently facing unrelated sexual assault charges in British Columbia.
