Does Michael Vick really own a dog?
At a presser earlier this week, Michael Vick was asked if he did, in fact, own a dog. He chose not to answer the question, and by doing so, pretty much answered the question.
Early Thursday, Vick released a statement, admitting that his family does own a dog as a pet. This will anger many of you reading right now. But. It’s time to move on. If you don’t have something ugly in your family or circle of friends that you’ve needed to forgive and move on, or try again for a better outcome with a different set of variables…? Just wait. It’s a’comin’.
PaVick’s statement read as follows:
“I want to ensure that my children establish a loving bond and treat all of God’s creatures with kindness and respect. Our pet is well cared for and loved as a member of our family. This is an opportunity to break the cycle. To that end, I will continue to honor my commitment to animal welfare and be an instrument of positive change.”
Sure. He probably had some help with that one, but you have to respect his desire to say things in a continuous manner that suggests, “I’ve changed.” The story of Michael Vick may resound as impetus for change in the lives of many others someday. So, if you’re still hating on the guy, let it go. Encourage his progress. What he did was morally reprehensible, but it was what he did. Not what he does. I’m glad he has a dog. I’m sure the dog eats well.
