Fresh off a critically-acclaimed stint hosting Saturday Night Live, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane has just been announced as the host of the 85th Annual Academy Awards, taking place on February 24, 2013.
2012 was a great year for MacFarlane, with his FOX comedies, Family Guy, American Dad and The Cleveland Show, all performing well in the ratings and his movie Ted (in which he played a talking teddy bear) raking in the cash at the box office.
MacFarlane has proven to be a charming and versatile host, as he was on SNL during the show’s season premiere. His bit as Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte was particularly great. He can sing, dance and drop one-liners with the best of them, so he should be a great fit for the Oscars.
Let’s just hope he can actually find the microphone when he walks out on stage:
