The Foo Fighters are almost universally-beloved. It’s not hyperbole to say that they are one of the world’s biggest and best bands.
For now, however, it seems like the Foo Fighters might be done. At a concert on Saturday night in Central Park, lead singer (and heart of the band) Dave Grohl announced that he doesn’t know when the Foos will ever be together again.
At least, it seems like that’s what he said. His words were cryptic appeared to be chosen carefully:
“Without making a big deal out of it, we don’t have any shows after this,” Grohl said. “This is it, man. We don’t have any ones after this. This is the show where we come out and we play as many songs as we can in a short period of time, because, honestly, I don’t know when we’re going to do it again.”
Perhaps it’s not a permanent split for the band, but it sounds like the guys will be taking a hiatus, at the very least. Then again, Grohl is known for his wry humor and this might just be his way of stirring the pot and keeping his band in the headlines.
If I had to bet on it, I’d put my money on the Foos making a return before too long. Rock is clearly in Grohl’s blood and the band has already endured for so long (and it’s still so good) that it would be crazy to end it all so abruptly.
