We have a long way to go as humanity. If you consider all things possessing a cyclical nature, it would seem that we’re not even half way around the circle if we consider some of our current behaviors. The information age has been wonderful for a variety of educational opportunities–the vast amounts of knowledge serves as sheer opportunity. However, it within all of it, there is no easy way to gain wisdom.
Lizzie Velasquez, who Internet trolls have often referred to as the “World’s Ugliest Woman,” has offered a response to said trolls, as well as those who possess an immediate and impolite fear or curiosity when she’s out in public.
For starters, Velasquez is fine. Everything about her is completely normal, except for the fact that her body doesn’t produce adipose tissue. In other words, she has very, very little fat. Anywhere. And while we think of fat as bad, it certainly offers a lot of shape and layers to what we’ve come to know as “normal” for the human body. Simply put, Lizze Velasquez can’t gain weight.
Velasquez’s condition is a syndrome, but it doesn’t really possess a name. Again. There’s really nothing wrong with her, other than one key aspect of physiology. Most of us have many issues that result in far less of an aesthetic result. As you might suspect, she has to eat a lot in order to live. Our bodies rely on stored fat for sustained fuel. So. Like the two other people in the world who suffer from the same syndrome, Lizzie defies medical logic to live a very normal life. And at age 20, she’s finally speaking out.
I am so proud of Lizzie. I see ALL her beauty and spirit and she is an inspiration to everyone. Thank you, Lizzie.
I would be honored to have Miss Velasquez as an adoptive *grand-daughter*. She has a lovely sense of self and knows who her real friends are. She is lucky because alot of us don’t. Her life will always be interesting and I feel she will take on all that comes her way. Anyone who thinks they are better than this lovely young lady has a high opinion of themself.

She is NOT the world’s ugliest woman,why do people have to be so cruel,is it to make themselves look better.She seems like such a nice person,I hope that people who see her being teased stick up for her,I would.
Sometimes people are so stupid. I can belive that people would say these things to her only because people are stuck in looks these days. Its all about hair, makeup and all types of other shit that dont really matter in the day to day sruggle. I know because I have had people say some crule things to me because my teeth are not right. It hurts too. I have the lowest self of stem and its hard to even go to a job interview because I think everyone is thinking what those people said about me. Im sure that this dosent ever stack up aginst what she has gone through. If I ever seen someone disrespecting her I would kick there a$$ Plain and simple. Dont give up LIzzy! One day we all will be PERFECT.

I watched you on THE DOCTORS the other day and let me tell you that you are a beautiful young lady and those jerks who said those horrible things to you need to go to h____.
