Tom Brokaw Hospitalized, Says Ambien Is To Blame

Former NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw was rushed to hospital this morning after he complained of feeling lightheaded. It sounds like he’ll be okay, though. In fact, he took to twitter to assure his fans that “all is well.” He even got in a dig at the New York Giants, losers of last night’s NFL season opener against the Dallas Cowboys:

Despite saying that he wasn’t making sense, Brokaw didn’t seem out of sorts on his appearance on Morning Joe earlier today (before he was taken to hospital). Why he would take Ambien in the morning (and before a television appearance) is completely unclear, but we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

Brokaw is 72 and he stepped down as NBC anchor in 2004. Since then, he has stayed heavily involved in the networks election coverage. At the DNC this week, Brokaw has been all over the television, from appearances on morning shows to late-night chat shows, leading to speculation that his hospital visit was related to exhaustion. In a way, perhaps it was.
