Ryan Tannehill Doesn’t Know What Division The Chiefs Play In

Miami Dolphins rookie Ryan Tannehill still has a lot to learn about life as a starting quarterback in the NFL. He might want to start by learning the teams in the NFL, as well as what divisions they play in.

Tannehill, who was recently named the Dolphins’ starter ahead of Matt Moore, has been one of the main focuses of the Hard Knocks cameras. The HBO series is following the Dolphins as they go through training camp this year and it has mostly shown Tannehill to be a nice and talented guy who you would want to root for.

Of course, the cameras have also focused on Tannehill’s super hot wife, Lauren. She seems relatively smart, too, but maybe that’s because all of her “dumb blondeness” has rubbed off on her husband.

On last night’s episode of Hard Knocks, it was revealed that Tannehill isn’t exactly an NFL trivia buff. In fact, he admitted that he doesn’t even have a good grasp of the NFL’s divisional alignment.

“I wasn’t a huge pro fan growing up; I wasn’t loyal to any one team,” Tannehill told teammates, “so I don’t really know the divisions, and even really conferences. I know most of the conferences but some of those, I really have no clue. And they don’t make sense. You have the AFC East, and we’re freaking in the bottom of the map, and the directions don’t make any sense where the teams actually are.”

When asked to name the teams in the NFC North, Tannehill came up with the Packers and Vikings, but then got stumped and guessed the Giants.

Later, he guessed that the Kansas City Chiefs were an NFC East team, not only getting their division wrong, but also their conference.

Of course, all that the Miami Dolphins coaches likely care about is Tannehill’s ability to execute the gameplan and read defenses. Still, it will probably be pretty amusing when the Dolphins travel to a city like Phoenix and Tannehill finds out that the Arizona Cardinals are a real NFL franchise.
