Lars Von Trier’s Next Film, The Nymphomaniac, Will be an A-List Porn

Oh, Lars.

This guy has some serious, storytelling and filmmaking talent–serious talent–but he is also an ass. We all remember his ban from Cannes, after his raved about Melancholia subsequently and unfortunately resulted in Von Trier talking…about anything. What followed was a convoluted diatribe about Jews and Nazis, and an uncomfortable cast and audience. Lars Von Trier, talent aside, is a Danish douche.

That having been said, a lot of people want to work with him. A lot of A-listers… especially after the success of Melancholia. His next film, The Nymphomaniac, which will include real sex acts, of which will be blurred if they’re considered “illegal.” When I say blurred, I don’t mean pixelated boxes around hoo-hahs and ding-a-lings. I mean they’ll shoot it out of focus. This film…hosts a cast that is quite impressive.

Shia LaBeouf, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Stellan Skarsgard and Charlotte Gainsbourg are all in. But will they be…”All-in?” I’d be interested to hear a conversation between Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban about shooting something like this. I really just don’t understand it. If you’re not going to “show it,” as what it is, then why not rely on an actors ability to act? It’s just Von Trier being Von Trier, getting his kicks based on his own manipulative form of anthropological study.

LaBeouf has stated that he is terrified about the process, which is why he is so intrigued. If such is the case: Why three Transformers movies?

“Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.”

  1. The writer of this article sounds like the real douche, either he hasn’t seen what actually happen in Cannes at the press conference with Von Triers and is being lazy, or he’s maliciously knowingly taking out of context what was clearly a mundane joke with the press. This hysteria and probably envy from articles like this one are truly pathetic. Lars Von Triers is a film maker doing whatever he sees fit in his movies, as he should, who cares about a-actors taking their clothes?
