This guy.
I still think he and Ron Artest need a reality show about living within their surreality.
Chad Johnson was arrested last weekend after his new wife, Evelyn Lozada, called police, alleging that her husband head butted her after during an argument. And yes, he did head butt her…though I’m sure he wasn’t the only one to get physical. We’ve all seen Basketball Wives. Wait. No. We haven’t. Either way, the argument stemmed from Evelyn finding a box of condoms, or a receipt for a box of condoms, and Chad did take kindly to her insinuation.
Chad was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence, and upon being released from jail, he was also released from the Miami Dolphins, who he had signed a one-year deal with earlier this year. I’m sure Evelyn is wishing she hadn’t called the cops now, but according to insiders, Johnson wasn’t making much of an impression in camp anyway.
Miami is under a new regime, and this was a message sent to all of the other players. Sure, Johnson was expendable–all things considered–and was the perfect individual to serve as an example to the rest of the players trying hard to make that 53 man roster.
The future for Johnson in the NFL is incredibly uncertain. There are a lot of teams who could use some receiving talent, but he seemed to be exposed while in New England, never really grasping the whole of the offense, and being relegated to a few potential sets and routes. If he didn’t carry the persona, one might figure him in Denver, Kansas City, Carolina, Cleveland, St. Louis or maybe even back with Cincinnati, but now…? The 34 year old may be closer to retirement than he ever imagined.
