Quick shopping for dudes. That’s what it is. Those things that are stereotypically dude, and those things that dudes need when they’re really feeling their dude.
New York City’s Westside Market–three locations on NYC’s Upper West Side, and one in Chelsea–have developed what has been dubbed The Man Isle. Don’t they mean “Man Aisle?” No. I don’t think so. It’s not an actual aisle, rather more of an isle, or small island of man-awesome within the store. And for the dude getting his dude on–or in a hurry to get his appropriate gentleman on–he’ll find everything he needs within this convenient section of the store.
A former resident of NYC, I have shopped at the Westside Market, uptown and down, and I’m not at all surprised that the family owned and operated business has dropped this sweet morsel on the city. It was definitely a great place to shop pre-Man Isle…but they just upped the ante.

As you can see in the photo, The Man Isle consist of a lot of those things that are typically man, including beer, Gatorade, energy drinks, chips, cereal, razors, shave cream, condoms, BBQ sauce, charcoal, cookies, condiments, candies and more…C’mon!? Greatest grocery development ever!? I think so…
The Man Isle is the result of some impressive research. Stores have long been arranged to accommodate families, particularly women who do the shopping for the family. This island of incredible will streamline the male shopping process, and fit better into the contemporary marketplace, considering who shops there. Instead of working the maze of every aisle, dudes can hit the produce, hit the deli and hit The Man Isle–in and out in just a few minutes!
Thank you, Westside Market. Thank you.
