So. It seems there was a cry for help. One final plea, and a warning of a sinister plot that was offered via mail a week before the massacre in Aurora–yet the package remained unopened.
A package was received by a University of Colorado psychologist and professor sometime around July 12th. However, considering summer schedules, it remained unopened in an office mailbox until it was found Monday morning. After opening the package, the professor contacted authorities. It turned out that this package was not from Holmes, yet the activity prompted the FBI to search the entire mail room, when they found a package with a return address possessing the name of James Holmes. After receiving a court ordered warrant, agents were able to open the package, which contained a notebook.
The contents of the package were chilling. Illustrations supposedly done by Holmes, including drawings of a stick figure killing other stick figures with guns. Such a development makes this sad tale even more tragic. It seems that beneath it all is a kid who didn’t really know how to cry out for help.
It also painted a picture that the Century 16 wasn’t necessarily the desired target of Holmes. It has been suggested that his initial plans were a flight to the New York premier of the film, in order to attack the film’s stars.
As more details emerge, it’s filling in pieces of the puzzle, including how Holmes could have afforded the assault and defense equipment he used during the attack. He was the recipient of a $26,000 grant, was failing out of school and struggling to live up to what he saw as impossible expectations. It has also been suggested that he had broken up with a girlfriend, though we’ve yet to hear from her. No doubt, if this is true, someone is offering her a load of cash for her story. Along those lines, the lawsuit filings have begun by some witnesses and survivors…against the theater, Warner Bros…you name it.
I wonder if it’s too late for me to sue the City of New York for being an eye witness to the events of September 11, 2001, and suffering post-traumatic stress? I have no patience for these money-making suits. Be happy with your lives, folks. There were many who were far less fortunate. Follow the proper avenues to get help with medical expenses, but understand, this is the broken world we live in. More money is only going to present you with a new variety of problems.

This terrible lunatic just had to ruin the fun for all of us. My heart goes to the victims and their families. We have been excited to finally seeing The Dark Knight Rises for months and even got our costumes ready to go. I was going to be Poison Ivy with my bf as Batman. Alas, the theater wouldn’t let us in.
As one who worked in mental health for many years; sadly this does sound like the beginning of a bad mental illness episode(Bipolar or Schizophrenia)
My heart goes out to the victims but also goes out to Mr Holmes family as well.
Although he did plan events-when delusional -you can still be clear in other ways.
What triggers these “horrible events” wouldn’t make sense to a normal brain but to a brain that is in mania or a delusional state-you do things you would NEVER do in your normal state.
My heart goes out to all the victims, surviors and to Mr Holmes.
Sometimes events like this are hard to stop because it is something that doesn’t make sense. If there were clues-and it does sound like there were-it still would have been difficult to know just what was really going to happen.
