If you’re looking for a few laughs and the chance to gawk at a weird subculture (Juggalos; how do they work?), today’s your day. The commercial advertising the annual Gathering of the Juggalos (2012 edition) is out!
This year’s Gathering will feature such beloved and critically-acclaimed artists as the Geto Boys, the Rude Boy, the Fat Boys, Awesome Dre, and more. Presumably there will also be plenty of clown makeup, displays of excess, and Faygo.
In case you’ve never heard of the Gathering of the Juggalos, here’s a little summary: the Gathering is an annual festival put on by Psychopathic Records. It features live music (mostly hardcore hip hop), wrestling, comedy acts, games, autograph sessions, and general debauchery. It is basically Woodstock with people in clown makeup instead of hippies.
I’ll be honest: the Juggalo subculture is one I’ve never been able to wrap my head around. And yet I can’t look away. For those who feel the same way, here is a (NSFW) documentary about Juggalos, and a humorous Tumblr.
Watch the infomercial here. It is not safe for work or for your sanity.
