Back in March, a rumor made the rounds online that pegged Tim Tebow as the next star of ABC’s The Bachelor. It wasn’t true then and it isn’t true now, despite the fact that the rumor has once again surfaced.
It’s not happening, people. Though it would surely be a ratings bonanza, Tebow has absolutely nothing to gain from participating in the show.
Tebow’ faith is renowned. He proudly proclaims his virginity. Do you really think he would go on a show that, at its core, is about promiscuity making rash decisions? Tebow’s not interested in dating tens of women in short order. He’s certainly not interested in closeups of his pious lips making out with the (let’s be honest) relatively immoral women that make up the cast of the show.
If Tebow’s looking for a relationship, he’s going to do it away from the cameras. Despite his larger-than-life presence in the media, he’s actually a fairly private person. He’d readily admit that he enjoys using his fame to spread his faith, but he’s not in it for the money.
This news is likely to disappoint Tebow lovers and Tebow haters alike (how great would it have been to laugh at him signing hymns around all those scantily-clad, catty women?), but reality doesn’t always line up with what would be the most entertaining.
At least we have the 2012 New York Jets season to look forward to. It’s not like Tebow won’t be all over every television set, regardless of whether he joins the cast of a reality show.
