Jerry Sandusky’s Defense Rests, Wife Testifies to Discredit Accusers

That was a relatively quick trial. Coming the day after the Roger Clemens verdict, and a trial that took nearly three times as long, one really has to examine which crimes carry the most weight in this nation. Over 50 sexual crimes against children, or lying to Congress about using performance enhancing drugs?

The Sandusky defense team has rested its case. Now the jury will be allowed to ask some questions and deliberate over the 50 counts of sex crimes that Sandusky has been accused of, and charged with. Sandusky desired to take the stand, yet he was overruled by his defense team. Good decision for him. His taking the stand would have been damning during cross-examination. Not that the case against him isn’t already.

Instead of putting Jerry Sandusky on the stand, the defense chose to put his wife, Dottie Sandusky, on the stand. Dottie did her best to discredit the witnesses, by trashing the character of people who were at the time, children. The youngest now 18, and a recent high school graduate.

She classified accuser #4 as “demanding, conniving, always wanting his way and not listening a lot.” And according to Mrs. Sandusky, accuser #1 was “very clingy to Jerry, somebody who would never look people in the eye.”

Could it be a possibility that he never wanted to look anyone in the eye because he was completely ashamed of something he knew wasn’t right–regardless of perspective? Any psychologist could have a field day with her attempt to discredit those kids. No doubt, someone on the jury will as well.
