Much Music, Canada’s version of MTV (only they still play actual music videos from time to time north of the border) held its annual Much Music Video Awards (MMVAs) ceremony last night. Katy Perry performed and she stole the show because what she wore/appeared not to wear.
Perry performed her song “Wide Awake” in a nude bodysuit that was reminiscent of the outfit Britney Spears wore in her video for the song “Toxic.” Her private bits were mostly covered by the large butterfly wings that were part of the ensemble, but those wings were nowhere to be found when Perry had to return to the stage to accept an award later in the night.
“I had no idea I was going to win an award after I performed or I would have put on more clothes,” Perry said, while trying to cover her butt from the prying eyes of nearby fans.
Perry took home the award for Best International Artist and the trophy, a black rectangular prism, actually worked great as a de facto censorship bar for covering her exposed rear end.
