We didn’t see this coming 14 months ago… Wait. We did. We all did.
Chad Ochocinco is an excellent example of someone who is supremely talented in terms of athletic ability. However, when it comes to taking that ability and refining it to someone else’s desire…? It seems Chad Ochocinco is lacking severely in the realm of versatility.
If Ochocinco wants to continue playing football, it would be wise to first change his name back to Chad Johnson. And Chad Johnson may want to go back to Cincinnati. It seems that they could still use his services. Though that won’t be happening.
It’s not a surprise at all that Ochocinco, coming from a very undisciplined Cincinnati Bengals squad, couldn’t find a pattern of thriving in the extremely disciplined environment in Foxboro. He’s just not that guy. He’s an on the field performer, who was young enough to fear not playing if he didn’t learn the system in Cincinnati. But once he became a “persona?” No doubt he saw envisioned himself waltzing into Bob Kraft’s kingdom, catching a million balls from Brady and never having to sponge the entire system. That equated to him rarely playing. And now the Patriots are ready to cut their losses and move on.
Where will OchoJohnson end up? Oakland, of course!? Where else would he go? If you’re a fan, you certainly don’t want the guy after the New England debacle, but as a GM, you might still be curious. He’ll definitely score a few workout opportunities, but it’s looking like he and Terrell Owens might finally be able to reunite…and enjoy a tandem reality show. I’d love to see both of these guys on the field, mouths closed, just playing ball. But it’s probably more likely that I’d be sending you a legitimate check for one million U.S. dollars.
