Freddy Sharp claims that he’s been addicted to ‘bath salts’ since he was 13 or 14 years old. No, this doesn’t mean that he crushes up and snorts the stuff you get in gift baskets (please tell me I’m not the only one who thought this at first). Freddy is addicted to a dangerous synthetic drug that is described as having the worst side effects of methamphetamine, LSD, and PCP.
Sharp recently quit using the drug following an overdose – an event that was caught on video. The footage is somewhat disturbing.
If you weren’t aware, ‘bath salts’ are the drug purportedly behind the ‘Miami zombie’ cannibal attack. Attacker Rudy Eugene is believed to have been under the influence of the drug when he stripped off his clothes and ate part of Ronald Poppo’s face in a bizarre attack that has some claiming that a ‘zombie apocalypse’ is nigh.
According to Sharp, a bath salts high can make a person feel ’10 feet tall’ and ‘bulletproof’. He claims that users that are high on the drug ‘actually do not feel any pain’.
In the video, Sharp writhes around, contorts his face, and sings to himself. At one point, a paramedic asks him if he knows where he is. Sharp later told CNN that at the time, he was experiencing hallucinations of being in a mental hospital and being possessed by Jason Voorhees.
“It was one of the most horrible experiences of my life,” he said of the overdose. “It felt like the darkest, evilest thing imaginable.”
So the moral of the story is this: don’t try bath salts, you guys. Not even once. This has been your Manolith PSA.
