A fond farewell. And no doubt she will fare well.
Kristen Wiig is arguably the most marketable, female Saturday Night Live featured player that has ever graced the Studio 8H stage. Incredibly funny, incredibly versatile and incredibly imaginative. Did I mention she’s incredibly…easy to adore? Don’t wanna say adorable…she’s not a puppy or kitten. Regardless, she boasts a mix that all comediennes wish they possessed, but few actually do. Funny and easy on the eyes. Rare.
Kristen Wiig said goodbye to the Saturday Night Live family, while dancing with her fellow cast mates as the host and musical guest, Mick Jagger, crooned “Ruby Tuesday.” The show was unique in nature, Jagger performing with various musical acts such as Arcade Fire and Foo Fighters…and he worked his comedic skills to the best of his ability.
Digressing. The evening was an appropriate send-off for everyone’s favorite SNL gal. An episode with some stellar highlights, and an emotional goodbye as Wiig hugged, twirled and sang with her cast mates.
It was a bit of surprise that Kristen Wiig stuck around 30 Rockefeller Plaza as long as she did. With a waxing popularity in the world of film, and no doubt, dozens of options offers available in the world of TV, it was kind of her to continue lending her talent to a show that is…well…how does one say this kindly… …suffering in the realm of strong female presences? Just seems a long time since Maya Rudloph, Amy Poehler, Kristen Wiig and Tina Fey were all strutting their stuff regularly.
